The Crest And Motto
 Our Vision
 Mission Of The College

Carmel College, Modankap, Bantwal is a new venture of the Apostolic Carmel Sisters in 2010. It is a Minority Educational Institution as per the Constitution of India, Article No. 30 (1). The Apostolic Carmel Congregation was founded by Mother Veronica of the Passion (1823-1906) in Bayonne, France in 1868 and was established at St. Ann's Campus in Mangalore in 1870 with its main thrust, the development of women in India, as persons imbued with deep faith in God and in themselves by providing sound Catholic Education. Over the past hundred and forty years of its existence the Institute has expanded with a large number of education establishments in India, Sri Lanka, Middle East, Pakistan and East Africa.

The Management is running at present St. Agnes College and St. Ann's College of Education at Mangalore, both Autonomous Colleges. Carmel College, Modankap is affiliated to Mangalore University.

The history of Carmel Convent Girl's High School goes back to the year 1963 when it was opened by Mother Theodosia A.C. of revered memory to educate girls of the Bantwal Taluk who had no easy access to Educational Institutions at that time.

In the year 2000, the Management decided to upgrade the High School as Composite Pre-University College offering Science, Commerce and Arts in view of the pressing need providing Pre-University education in Bantwal to girls and later extended to boys.

Most of the students who completed PUC in this Pre-University College had to discontinue their studies or travel to Mangalore or other distant colleges because of lack of Degree Colleges in the vicinity. Hence the management found it necessary to begin a Higher Education Institution on the same premises.

The Crest of the Institution describes the aim and objectives of education imparted to those who enter its portals. The motto "Thy Light Our Guide" indicates that God's will is an unfailing light which guides the lives of all those who come under its influence.

The Graduate Students of Carmel College shall imbibe the Christian values and become persons for others, at the same time they will be knowledgeable, confident and principle-centred humane persons.

The College has a clear mission to empower our youth through integral and integrated education. They in turn would contribute towards building a just and humane society. In the spirit of the Charism of our Foundress Mother Veronica and the guidance provided by the Apostolic Carmel Pioneers in Education, the mission of this institution in collaboration with the Staff is:
  • To live and witness the Gospel values, in particular faith in the creator, love for all people, justice, peace and sisterly approach in all the ventures and academic pursuits.
  • To foster a sense of concern for all people of all religions, castes and classes under the embrace of the Fatherhood of God, the source of life.
  • To promote holistic development of all the students of this institution with specific focus on their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and aesthetic growth.
  • To sustain harmony between Creator of nature and humans by working towards protecting and preserving our environment.
  • To work toward guarding and upholding the human rights of all people through its practice on the campus.
